I don't know if there has ever been service between Indianapolis and San Diego but the SAN Airport Authority has come up with a new program to offer incentive to airlines to start new nonstop service. It includes money to market the routes and waived landing fees.

So will this finally get us the service? And if so who will do it? Will it be AirTran or Frontier or Midwest?

Only thing is Southwest has been shrinking their IND schedule. They've cut back LAS and PHX and have eliminated the LAX nonstop service.

I wouldn't be surprised if NW/DL add the route. There was a rumor prior to the merger that NW would add a SAN flight out of IND. That'd be a pretty sweet nonstop flight to have. I believe SAN is a bit underserved as well.

I could see this happening with the expanding market in the west

I had seen somewhere that SAN was looking at incentive packages offered by other airports and IND was one listed.
