I wonder if AirTran is going to go to 4x daily to MCO this coming spring. The reason I bring this up is the way the schedules have been reworked. Right now if I want to go to MCO on March 29th during spring break I'd have a 6am option which connects me in ATL to MCO. The next option is at 11:29am also through ATL. The first nonstop is 11:41am. There is a 5hr 29min gap between that first option and that second option to Orlando. Both connecting in ATL. A logical slot exists around 8:30am or 9:00am. Given the way the nonstop flights are positioned it looks like a 4th daily nonstop would go in that slot.

I guess it really comes down to demand for the flights.

Doesn't it seem odd to you to have 3 nonstop flights but the first one at almost noon?

Not necessarily, because the plane for that first flight obviously originates elsewhere, probably in either ATL or MCO. Or perhaps even in another city, and it flies via ATL or MCO before reaching IND.

They continue to screw with their departure times. I don't see how this can be good for business. Now their system shows that starting in late February they will have two MCO departures 48 minutes apart. Flight #397 leaves at 5:56pm and #403 leaves at 6:44pm.

Ok what the hell is the deal with AirTran? I'm checking the June 30th schedule and they have two MCO departures 21 minutes apart. Instead of fixing the problem they are making it worse.

Their scheduling department has serious issues. FLL which a few months back got changed in their reservation system to basically all year has been changed back to seasonal with the last flight being May 17th. The two MCO flights that were 21 minutes apart have been changed. One of the flights was moved about 8 to 10 hours earlier. Also a 5th daily to ATL was added. It will be an 8am(ish) departure which fills in the big morning service gap.

Their scheduling is just far too schiztophrenic for my taste.
