For the past couple of months i have seen this massive a330 at ind. The flight comes from detroit, then it leaves here and flies all the way to frankfurt, germany.

I was at IND today and got a photo of the A330 Smile I'll post it later. I just got home about 30 minutes ago and I'm wiped out.

Do you think with this A330 coming to IND pretty often do you think this opens the door for International service out of IND.

This honestly doesn't do anything. You can look to the Super Bowl for evidence that IND can support (physically) the aircraft and traffic. The problem is demand. Can IND support a flight to a European hub? Can we fill a 767, A332, A333, 744 (Combi?) with enough pax and cargo to make the flight profitable? I don't think the cargo portion of the equation will be a problem. The number of passengers on the route may be a problem. Biggest part of that problem would be the number of passengers paying full fare first class. A round trip in F from IND to AMS would run $7,000 to $10,000. Can IND fill 20+ seats a flight at that rate? You manage to sell that many F seats and you fill the belly with cargo then chances are the route will work and will be very successful. Even if you only sold 100 coach seats.

You comment is very true because I don't think people would pay that much money for an airline ticket, so it would be really hard to fill an airplane like an A330. You also have to put into play that a A330 holds about 250-300 passengers.

So Paintrain that means can't use a 767 for a Europe route.

If the weather is right it isn't out of range. I learned that from a TATL 757 pilot. This winter has proven that the entire U.S. is out of rate for Europe when it comes to the 757. Even flights to coastal airports had to be diverted. An airline would probably be able to swing summer service to a European hub like AMS or CDG from IND using a 757 But that is about it. As soon as the winds picked up the flights would start being diverted. Short term our best bet is a 767 with a belly filled with cargo. With the TATL 757 you really can't do anything with cargo and cargo is our biggest strength.
