I flew on the Chautauqua / United Express Embraer EMB-170 for the first time yesterday. That is a darn fine aircraft! It's larger than the Embraer 135/145 regional jet I fly on CO all the time, holding 70 or so pax. Also larger than the CRJ's used by DL, NW, and others. It's large enough to stand up fully in, the overhead bins are bigger, and best of all, the seats are wider/more comfortable with more legroom.

If you haven't had the chance to fly on of these yet, Chautauqua (Republic Airways, HQ in Indy) flies them ex-IND to both ORD and DEN. I wish more airlines would upgrade their fleets to include these birds...

Can I get a peanut crumb with that thimble of Coke?

I flew on one of the Emb-170's to DEN and I will have to agree with boofer on this that they are extremely comfortable and fly rather smoothly. When taking off the bird sure knows how to haul ass. I would love to fly on these more often.

I flew on one from BIL-MSP on Compass Airlines (NW... and now DL) last summer and I have to say that it was better than the DC-9-30s that used to be on that route.

Why do my favorite airlines end up going defunct??

DC-9's are flat out ugly too. Are they still even being made?

The last DC-9 came off the line in 1982... If you want to get technical, the MD-80's are considered DC-9-80 and so on.

Oh they are not ugly! They are a true classic!
