As mentioned early, I am trying to entertain myself on a Sunday afternoon. So, here's a little information about past carriers and destinations at IND.
-Air Florida: Served CVG and CMH from '82-'84.
-Braniff II: Served MCI and MCO form '88-'89.
-Ozark: Served STL, PHI, MCO, and DSM from '83-'86.
-Piedmont: Served CLT from '89.
-Presidential Airways: Served IAD from '85-'86.
-Valujet: Served ATL from '94-'96.
-Florida Express: Served MCO from '84-'86.
-Western Pacific: Served DEN and COS from '97.
-Midway: Served 'RDU from '00?.
If you guys know anymore, feel free to add them.

I think Delta or Eastern offered nonstop service from Melbourne, FL to Indianapolis back in the late 80's.

Let it go, I know Independence was a great airline in your eyes, but that's not going to bring it back... I'm sorry.

Oh please, start your own airline and make sure it doesn't have the CRJ as it's main aircraft type, lol.

Ill use the B737 instead of the A319, and the ERJ145 instead of the RJ200!

That's fine, just make sure you use the 737 for more routes then Independence did.

TWA -- was in the A concourse for years.
served St. Louis, Minneapolis - St. Paul, and New York Kennedy.
offered 757 service several times a day, too.
and of course, how could you forget ATA?
services to Ft. Lauderdale, Chicago, Phoenix, Sarasota, St. Petersburg, Ft. Myers, Orlando, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York La Guardia and beyond...
Current airlines with previous destinations --
Delta -- service to Orlando & Tampa (and Ft. Lauderdale?) under the Delta Express banner
US Air -- former hub operations ... a plethoric list of cities that's been discussed in other threads -- some noteable destinations include Kansas City, Cleveland, Akron/Canton, Champaign/Urbana, Peoria, Milwaukee, Grand Rapids, Evansville, South Bend, Phoenix (returned with US Airways), San Francisco, Los Angeles, Nashville, Louisville, Lexington, Hartford/Springfield
America West (now US Airways) -- former service to Las Vegas
Southwest Airlines -- Houston, New Orleans, Los Angeles, St. Louis

add St. Louis and Phoenix to the list as well.
they also at one time served West Palm Beach and Sarasota.
did they ever offer Saturday only service into Miami or am I getting ahead of myself?

well even so ... you CANT leave out ATA!
it would be interesting if someone ever compiled an ATA timeline of services offered over the years.
