Passenger Traffic up For Republic
Indianapolis-based Republic Airways Holdings is reporting a 35 percent increase in passenger traffic in November 2007 over the same month last year. Republic says it generated 777.2 million revenue passenger miles. A total of 1,494,244 passengers were carried during the month, a 37.1 percent increase over the same month last year.

Their shareholders would say no. But it is interesting that Republic is growing at such a fast clip while other airlines are still struggling. Even other regional airlines are struggling. Republic's growth isn't so much from general growth in air travel in their markets; rather it's from stealing market share from other regionals and from mainline traffic being shifted to regionals.
Can I get a peanut crumb with that thimble of Coke?Boofer

In fact you are stealing market share. I don't mean that in a bad way. What Republic has gained in COEX business you've taken from ExpressJet. What you've gained flying regional routes for UA you've taken from Air Whisky and others. Etc. Somehow Republic is just offering a better deal to the mainline carriers than their existing regional carriers.
