What are the chances that Cape Air will stay in Indiana and continue the IND-SBN, EVV service? I guess the airport directors at SBN and EVV don't want the subsidies to continue so that would mean Cape Air picking up the tab.

If they aren't going to continue the subsidies then I'd think Cape Air will go.

Probably. How well did the ATA connection flights do when they had them for the short time?

These flights are basically public transportation. Just like IndyGo, you have to subsidize them to make them work. Unless and until there are competitive connection opportunities in IND for pax from SBN and EVV, there won't be enough demand for those routes to make them unsubsidized.

Didn't USAir fly the SBN/IND and EVV/IND route when they had their "hub" here? Does anyone know how those flights did? I am pretty sure USAir had some good connection opportunities.

USAir did fly mainline IND-EVV and IND-SDF. I'm not sure about SBN. I know they offered USAir Express to several little towns throughout the state.

But that was also in the days of limited competition, cheap gas, and generally rosy operating conditions. In today's cutthroat world of airline competition, there's no way most of those routes would work unless they connected to a major-league hub or were subsidized.
