I was wondering if anyone had FIRST-HAND experience with this new system today. How did most pax deal with it, and how much longer did it take to get through the sceening lines? I have to travel Sunday night, and I'm curious how much earlier I really need to get to IND.

Can I get a peanut crumb with that thimble of Coke?

I don't know, the T.V. said at least 2 hours, but that probably depends on different times of the day.

Are the airlines still having the beverage service on flights?

Good question, one in which I don't know the answer to. If they do have beverages, you are probably not allowed to bring mentos with you Very Happy

OK, so I'm in MCI again. Here are some answers to some questions about the new routine...

1. You don't actually have to get to IND 2 hours early now. I left Sunday night, and others on my trip left around 2-3pm Sunday afternoon. Everyone said the airport was normal. There aren't hellishly long lines of people taking stuff out of their carryons and stuffing them in their checked bags. I thought there would be, so I got to IND 2 hrs early Sunday night, and the damn place was deserted. I breezed through security, no problem except the boredom of having to wait so long.

2. They have signs everywhere about not taking any liquids or gels on the plane, but nobody appeared to check for them. Maybe they did at the security checkpoint and I couldn't tell, because I checked all my shampoo and stuff anyway.

3. They do serve beverages on the plane. No changes.

4. Nobody seems particularly freaked out and the planes all seem as full as before.

5. Northwest will hold the last flight of the night (at least in this case) awaiting CONNECTING PAX! We had about 12 people going LGA-IND-MCI, and the LGA leg was delayed from much earlier in the day. So rather than strand those folks in Indy for the night, they held the IND-MCI flight about 30 minutes to wait on them. So I guess all my previous wondering about whether NW really, deliberately sold a lot of connecting itinieraries through IND has now been officially put to rest.

6. I tried the mentos & coke thing this past weekend, and it really works. Make a paper tube or something and pre-load the mentos in it. Open up a 2-liter of diet coke. Hold your finger over the tube with the mentos, and then drop them in there all at once. You'll get about 5 feet of coke fountain spewing up into the air. Oh yeah...do this outside on the lawn, and use Diet Coke, 'cause it's not all sticky afterward.

Definately deliberate isn't it?

Do I know you? lol. We just did the exact same thing about 2 days ago. Went through 6 liters of diet coke. It was a blast. No pun intended.
