And airfares jumped (as I just looked for curiosity) from $150 to Ft. Myers and Orlando to over $220, how long until a bitch fest ensues?

I think the MCO jump might be a temporary jump. By mid Feb MCO will be wildly overserved from IND with 3x by FL, 2x by NW and 1x by WN. I just think that 6 daily nonstops might be a bit excessive. I don't know. Maybe not if they are raising rates.

well, that's only what...just under 700 seats for a market that sees an average of 1,000 folks a day. that's enough to fill up those planes and have enough to route through Charlotte on US Airways or through Cincinnati or Atlanta on Delta, and then even have a few left over for die hard American or United fans willing to route of the way to get their frequent flyer miles.

I believe the 1000 seats is combined. I think that means 500 each way for a total of 1000 not 1000 each way. Or did I read that wrong?

good question, you know, i never thought of that. but i thought, just based on the way that faremeasure is worded, that it is one way. should post that question over at a.net. being roundtrip explains a lot of service along routes.

I checked faremeasure.com and they are listing 1,067 passengers between the cities. That number comes up for Orlando to Indianapolis and Indianapolis to Orlando. It has to be the combined passengers because I checked Indianapolis/Las Vegas and the numbers both way matched (1186). I'd watch for a service increase to Vegas btw. By mid Jan there will be only 4 daily nonstop flights to LAS.

If thats the case then explain the Orlando/Indianapolis number of 1067. Maybe half a man traveled Smile. Or thats there the 1.5 children comes in to play Mr. Green

Boeing7E7 just messaged me. faremeasure #'s are one way passengers between each city exclusionary of connecting passengers.

so there really are 1,000 people a day going to Orlando.

I don't think thats accurate. Try and find a city pair where the numbers from one city are different than numbers from the other city. Odds are you will get someone on a one way ticket to throw the numbers off.

"On average, 544 passengers travel the 840 miles between Tampa/St. Petersburg/Lakeland, FL and Indianapolis, IN each day."

Its just travel between the city pairs. I don't think it cares which direction they are going. Which explains why the numbers are the same for both cities.
