I'm interested to hear others' comments about IND versus other nearby airports, particularly those from which people might decide to drive to IND for cheaper fares or better service. i.e. CVG, CMH, DAY, ORD/MDW, and maybe even DTW.

I've been under the impression that the competition and the presence of so many low-fare carriers at IND makes the airport one of the best for consumers in terms of good fares. Maybe it's not as attractive for fares as MDW. But I have heard that IND is drawing a lot of people from the Cincy area, for whom DL's CVG fortress hub is just too expensive for personal travel. In fact, some analysts say IND's draw of pax away from CVG was the main driver behind DL's "Simplifares" efforts ex-CVG.

Can I get a peanut crumb with that thimble of Coke?

I believe there was a starnews.com story not too long ago that stated 1 out of 4 IND passengers were from out of state. I think that says alot.
