I was listening to my IND feed earlier and heard mention of 747 traffic. I just now was able to research it. Turns out there's some Qantas flights coming in and out. QFA7526 arrived from HNL just before 4 this afternoon and QFA7593 departed around 630pm. I'm guessing it's the same aircraft. QFA7597 is due in from HNL early this morning (Oct 25 2006). I figured this would be of interest to some of you. Any idea on what they're here for?

I'm just guessing on this one. Could it be an FFA charter? Isn't the FFA in town this week?

Yup that's probably it. Hadn't thought about that. Just checked and saw two flight plans for QFA7597...one to Wainwright, Canada and the other to Shanghai. The Wainwright flight plan was scheduled later, so they probably just had a destination change. They probably originally didn't plan on a fuel stop, but determined later it would be needed...best I can guess. Good guess on FFA!

I'm involved with the convention, and I seriously doubt the QF 747 is involved with the FFA. It's a freighter, not a pax a/c. Maybe if it were bringing a big display setup or something for the show, but that stuff would have been delivered by Sunday - Monday latest, for setup time.

My guess is that it's just the occasional air freight shipment of some critical item that's either needed here or needed in China. Maybe Cummins has to drop-ship some critically needed generators or diesel engine parts, or Lilly had to get a batch of pharmaceutical active ingredient over to China in a hurry.

Can I get a peanut crumb with that thimble of Coke?

Atlas had a 747 on the international ramp yesterday. I think they were bringing the CART cars back from a race somewhere over in Asia or Australia.
