One of the many things I am really looking forward to in the new airport terminal is a nice airport lounge. Probably a NW Worldclub. Now that the airport has been pushed back, I can't help but dream about a lounge in the current terminal to tide me over until the new terminal is done.

The last lounge to operate at IND was the U.S. Airways club in terminal D. Not sure when that closed. IND is probably the largest airport without any kind of private lounge.

I wonder if there isn't some place that NW could squeeze in a Worldclub, even if it were outside security? I'm often at IND with between one and two hours to kill before my flight.

I was wondering the other day if the tower actually has to be online before construction starts since the current tower is between the construction and the old terminal. I had been told about 5 years ago that the tower had to be online for the construction to start and the reason that it had to be so tall was to see over the construction. I am wondering if this information is wrong. Perhaps the only reason the tower had to be so large was simply to see over the new terminal. Other than speculation has the airport authority actually come out to say the entire terminal project was pushed back? On the surface it certainly seems that way.

All I know is that controllers must be able to see the entire airport - wherever planes might be - from the tower. Whenever new towers have been built elsewhere, it's always been explained that the height of the tower is determined by the necessity to see every part of the airport where planes might be. I believe that's the case with the new Indy tower, too.
