Looks like AirTran is pretty serious about MKE. The article states 50 pilots and 50 flight attendants will now be stationed in MKE bringing the total number of employees to 300 in MKE.

Also 2 daily rts from MKE to DFW were annouced today.

Sad news for IND.
Oh well...

Why do my favorite airlines end up going defunct??

I wouldn't worry about MKE too much. I think they are grasping. But honestly until they get their act together with scheduling I won't use them. I don't care how much money it saves. I need an airline I can depend on. I just don't trust their planning and schedule. Too erratic and unpredictable.

Why can't you depend on them? I flew on AirTran last summer and will again this summer and they are one of my favorite airlines right now. When you talk about schedule changes months in advance that doesn't make an airline unreliable. They are just trying to utilize their aircraft the best they can.

Not even that far in advance. They yanked LAX only 2 months before the route was due to start. They start routes before the press released date. They drop seasonal service early. They randomly change frequencies (see ATL, MCO and RSW). Their time slots change often. The problem is they are trying to play big shot by adding routes all over the place that they don't have the equipment to operate. So they play the seasonal game on non seasonal routes. They add and drop randomly. Its like an airplane shell game. They won't commit to much of anything.

It is why that despite having pretty crappy customer service that I will continue to use Delta over AirTran.
