I was reading that earlier this year ( i believe that was the time ) the Indianapolis Airport Authority granted a permit to ASA. This is to operate under the name Delta Connections. Did they already fly here and that was a renewal? Or will they start flying here for Delta?

I don't know if it's new or a renewal, but ASA is DL's regional out of ATL only. Perhaps DL was flying only mainline a/c before and now they're going to be adding some frequency with regional jets?

And FWIW, I believe ASA is still exclusive as DL's regional ex-ATL. As opposed to CVG, which has Comair, ACA (unless they're totally gone now, since they became Independence Air, right?), Chautauqua/Republic/ShuttleAmerica, and one or two others, all flying at various times under the DL Connection banner.

Interestingly, though, I mentioned on my post in General Discussions last night that there was an ASA/DL Connection a/c sitting on the pad. The tail was painted with the red/white/blue "waxy flag" motif that DL uses on the tails of their mainline a/c, but without the DELTA name on it. Near the nose, it had the ASA logo, but nowhere did I see it saying Delta Connection or anything like that. Strange?

ASA does operate out of CVG, I saw some last year during my Cinncinnati trip.

Why do my favorite airlines end up going defunct??

Aahh. You're right. They didn't used to fly out of CVG, but according to their website, they now fly between CVG and:

MKE, LAN, YYZ, DCA, ILM, GSO, CAE, GSP, CHA, TLH, BTR, SHV, and TUL.
