Hmmm...they were flying n/s IND-SLC on Republic's E170's. But I don't see it now either. I guess they dropped it. Maybe Indy knows something?

I thought DL dropped or is dropping SLC from here.

they dropped SLC.

apparently they want to send the E170's to other parts of their system.

people keep "balking" the loads were fantastic and Delta wants to bring back the route, but with mainline aircraft.

others aren't so convinced.

we shall see, but Delta really should keep Indianapolis to Salt Lake in their system. there is a true lack of eastern/east midwest cities connecting to the Delta system at Salt Lake.

I would think an E170 would be perfect for 2x daily on that route. Faremeasure says 134 pax average daily on IND-SLC.

And I agree - there is a real lack of destinations from their SLC hub. Indianapolis is a big enough market that every airline's hub should offer n/s service from here.

Yup, I heard they were pleased with the route, its just that the E170's had to be sent to a different location.

So does that suggest it's coming back when Republic gets additional deliveries of E170s?

From what I read over at a.net awhile back, I'd say yes, but don't quote me on it.

I was reading on A.net that DL may be changing their "brand" and i was thinking, what is wrong with the one they have now? I like the wavy gravy, or wavy fabric, or whatever the hell they call it. If they are in fact going to change it, i think they should bring the widget back in some form Smile

I don't think they're talking about changing their trademark necessarily. I think what that is referring to is changing the image of their brand. Delta has always been seen as more of a leisure airline, mostly due to their focus on Florida and the south for most of their history. They've typically not marketed themselves as hard to the business traveler.

On the contrary, look at what Continental has done. They eschew leisure travelers for the sake of pleasing business travelers. Delta is going to stop trying to be all things to all people and instead adopt an approach similar to CO's - focus on the business traveler by offering top-notch freuquent flyer benefits, business-friendly schedules, business destinations (particluarly international) and a more professional attitude. They've tried to straddle the fence for too long, and it hasn't been working. Witness the dismantling of Song, along with the European route expansion.
