Frontier Airlines has applied to provide daily nonstop service from Indianapolis (IND) to Cancun, MX (CUN). I think this will be the first ever daily service to Cancun from Indianapolis. Expect a press release from Frontier soon.

Edit: Service to begin December 19th.

It is funny reading the Airliners.net discussion on this. They seem to think they had the info before anyone else. LOL. Actually they were about the last to have it. I posted it here 23 hours ago. It posted on Airliners.net 10 hours ago. I was also the one that posted it on flyertalk.com about the same time (23 hours ago) and I also was the one that updated the information on wikipedia.org. I updated both the IND and STL pages. These were likely the first sources anywhere other than the DOT site.

Another funny thing is that back in April I flew F9 to Vegas and I asked the CSA if this route would ever come back and she and her co-workers laughed and said "no way."

Very true!
I wonder if F9 will add more flights in an attempt to feed traffic through IND in preparation for the completion of the merger.

Well there will have to be some kind of schedule change if what I'm reading on another site is true. Right now there would be no equipment in place to fly IND-CUN. So something has to get a plane here in order to execute that route.

The service has been loaded on Frontier's website. And contrary to the DOT application the service is running Saturday only.
