Starting Jan 19th Republic will operate a daily flight to DEN on the Embraer 170. I wonder if Frontier will add any additional RJ flights out of IND to destinations other than DEN? What is the range of the 170?

We were flying the 170 between IND and DEN when we first got the contract with Frontier, but then it stopped. I didn't know we were bringing it back. As far as the range, I'm not sure exactly, but I know that at one time Shuttle America was flying IND-SLC with the 170 for Delta.

Capacity of the 170 is listed as 1,800 nm, 2,100 nm for the long range version. Technically, that's enough range to reach anywhere in North America except Alaska from IND. Could also reach all of Central America, and even to the north coast of South America, like Colombia or Venezuela.

Pretty impressive for a regional jet.

I agree. 1800nm is about the same as the smallest B737-100, and 2100 nm is about the same as the B737-400. Of course, the longest-range 737 is the B737-700ER, which can fly an amazing 5,375nm fully loaded. And also, the 787-9, has a range of 8,500 nm, which is enough to go nonstop from Indy to almost anywhere in the world - the only place it wouldn't reach from here is the western half of Australia. But it could go from Indy to Sydney...AussieAussieAussie! Oy! Oy! Oy!
