NW appears to be heading closer and closer to bankruptcy. Its executives have been selling stock left and right, and they've been unable to get the wage concessions they need to get costs in line.
Now, the mechanics' union has voted to authorize a strike against NW.

I'm not sure if the Pinnacle Airlines flights out of IND will be affected, which are many of the new routes on CRJs.

I agree. This will be the first real test of the United Airlines method: "cut wages and benefits or we'll go into bankruptcy and evaporate your pension."
Frankly, I like NW. I think it's one of the better run U.S. airlines (but far from the best). But big picture, I really think some of these airlines need to go bankrupt and dissolve - and I was hoping it would have been US Airways.
