What if Delta were to do service from IND-LHR. Would British Airways be willing to also do service to IND.

As Paintrain said it comes down to slots. Airlines can't just add flights to LHR like they can AMS. They are restricted the way airports like LGA and DCA are restricted. Since slots are restricted you want to use them where you can make the most money. So that makes it unlikely that service to IND from Europe would come from a slot restricted airport... and in this case that means LHR.
